namaq cheeni (nuh•muhk / chee•nee) is the brainchild
of two graphic designer best friends, Nandhini and Maheq.

Namaq; meaning salt, and Cheeni; meaning sugar, is what our playful children’s brand is about — a little sass, and a whole lot of sweetness. We create sustainable, ethically produced gender-neutral play-clothes, and accessories. We’re a small team that creates handmade, hand-printed, hand-stitched pieces filled with so much love and care. Each pattern, designed by one of the two of us, is carved into wooden blocks, and hand-stamped onto 100% cotton.

namaq cheeni is my biggest project, to date. Creating a complete branding is my bread and butter, but this project was far more personal. From working with artisans to hand carve our patterns into wood blocks, to working with a master seamstress to develop prototypes — developing namaq cheeni has been an absolute pleasure, and a challenging journey in small business entrepreneurship. I am incredibly proud of what our small team continues to create, and knowing that the hard work is being appreciated by all the little #cheenibabies wearing our clothes, makes this whole journey worth it.
